XMTrading: MT4/MT5 connection is down and I can’t trade. What’s the reason and how can I troubleshoot it?

When trading on XM, you may not be able to trade due to internet connection. The line is disconnected because MT4/MT5 is not able to connect to XM’s server normally for some reason. If MT4 or MT5 does not respond normally, there are various possible causes, so I listed them.

Reason for disconnection

When trading with MT4 or MT5, it is common that the screen displays “Line out” and charts do not appear, and you cannot log in. The causes are listed below. Let’s see if any of them apply to you. Sometimes your name does not appear even if you log in, and the problem is not fixed. If it is on the weekend, it may be due to maintenance, or if it is a VPS, it may be a problem. If it appears frequently, be careful. If there are any necessary processes or settings such as withdrawals or campaigns, and there is a problem, it can be easily resolved through support.

Incorrect login information

Most line interruptions are caused by incorrect login IDs, passwords, or server names. If you enter incorrect information, you will not be able to log in. It is common to make a mistake when entering your login information, so please check again to make sure it is correct.

There are two cases where you may have logged in to the wrong place on your home page. If you click to select the type or variety and something feels strange, be careful. If you cannot invest, please check your data. In some cases, you may need to reinstall the program.

If the MT4/MT5 login destination is incorrect, you will not be able to log in to MT4/MT5 and will be displayed as “Invalid account”. If you forget your server, check your launch email “Welcome to XM”.

Under maintenance

Server maintenance by XM is the most common cause of “line disconnection” being displayed. Server maintenance at XM is generally done on holidays and weekends. Emergency maintenance may be carried out depending on the server situation. Check your email or official website.

unstable server

When the server is in an unstable state, it may be temporarily displayed as “Line disconnected”. This could mean that your server is under attack, or that something else is causing trouble. Check your email or official website.

bad internet

If your computer’s internet connection is weak, it may also be disconnected. Try reconnecting to wireless LAN or Wifi and checking your internet environment. It is better to use a wired internet connection rather than a wireless one whenever possible. New specific updates are often released, so check the target files on your smartphone.

Account not activated

If your XM account has not been activated, it will show as “Invalid account”. This state means that you cannot start trading yet. So please activate it first. You cannot trade until this is completed.

Dormant/frozen accounts

If the account becomes dormant, you can log in, but “Invalid account” will be displayed and you may get an error that the line is disconnected. XM’s real account will automatically become a frozen account if there is no transaction for 180 days after the account balance is zero. A frozen account will never be revived, so if you want to continue trading with XM, you have to create a new account.

demo account expired

XM’s demo account is considered “expired” after 90 days of inactivity. Please note that if you leave it for 90 days, your account will be automatically closed and you will not be able to log in.

Old version of MT4/MT5

If the version of MT4/MT5 is old, the line may be disconnected. Try updating your MT4/MT5 to the latest version.

Outside trading hours

The market you are trying to trade in the first place may be closed. The first thing to do is to check if the market is closed. Markets may also be closed during the year-end and New Year holidays and Christmas.

If the cause is unknown
